MESSAGE FROM COACH POBUR

 Greetings players,

If you are looking for a team that teaches skill, teamwork, and competiveness over and above winning trophies, then you have found the right team!  The next few years are critical in getting you to the next level. That next level may be playing travel hockey at the midget level or it may be getting ready to make the jump to your high school program, AAA or Junior hockey, College, then Pro. Once you have been taught the game in a way that will allow you to move up, that decision will be yours. Next year.. your 14 year old year.. is the first year in getting you to the highest level you desire.  It starts with what you know now and what you’ll be taught while you are 13, Bantam first year. Our team goal is to get you ready to COMPETE for that next level slot, high school, AAA, Juniors....yes, juniors at this young age!  The scouts are already looking, as unbelievable as that may sound. Players are getting scholarship commitments very early these days. Visit Chris Heisenberg’s 2011 recruiting page,  https://spreadsheets.google.com/pub?key=tL8Ah1R7J-0t0I7U1KvPNhw&output=html  , to see how early the colleges are letting players know they are wanted for scholarships. Coach Pobur has been through this exercise twice with his 2 older sons......both LAKELAND HAWK ALUMNI.  First  with Kyle, 23,  who played for AAA Little Caesars, Honeybaked, Victory Honda, Compuware and juniors out east in EJHL and now for Lake Superior State-CCHA  and also with CJ, his 21 year old, who played AAA in Detroit for Caesars, Honeybaked, high school at Walled Lake Central before playing at Detroit Catholic Central then Juniors in EJHL and college for ACHA national champions Davenport in 2010 and then with Grand Valley State national champions in 2011. Both boys have played at the highest levels in the Detroit area and coach Pobur knows the process of playing high school , AAA, juniors, college and beyond. The hockey world is small, you must be connected to the people who make the decisions in order to provide your players opportunities to play at their highest level. I pride myself on being able to call any coach and say “this guy can flat out play” and they take those recommendations very seriously!

The Lakeland Hawks would like to guide you through your development and progress. I’m not claiming to guarantee your success.. that’s up to you, you will DO THE WORK!!  I have been down the road you are headed,  and I have many of my mentors guiding me down the correct hockey path in helping you. When you get to “your next level” the people who pick these teams don’t care what trophies you have won, how many tournaments you went to, or who was on that great team. They simply want to know, can you COMPETE at this level? They don’t care what it said on your jersey, they want to know what’s under that sweater and in your heart.....this is what counts. I will push you, teach you, move you to the next level and show you how to develop into what these next level coaches are looking for.  Simply put, they want skilled, smart, respectful young men to further their programs. I would like to invite you to call me or email me anytime to see if we can arrange for you to come out and see if you like our program and  teaching method and see if this is a good fit. The Hawks results in 2010-11 versus the prior year were really strong, in 2009-10 the Hawks skill level produced 1 victory.   In 2010-11, with a ton of dedicated work done by players and coaches in the right areas, we won the whole shootin' match.  I could care less about the trophy but the satisfaction the boys got from winning the Little Caesars Champioship at our level was fantastic!  It was wonderful to have them see what hard, smart work can produce! It was a great year for progress, come join us as we accomplish our next level  of development!

Thanks for your time! Have a great time playing hockey!
