In order for any Lakeland Hockey Association teams to participate in an out of town tournament they must first verify that the tournament is a USA or MAHA sanctioned tournament. This information should be easily visable on any promotional materials that the organizer provides.
Any tournaments outside the United Sates will require a special permit and the tournament must be sanctioned by Canadian Hockey.
Is your team searching for a good tournament? Don't know where to start. There are several good websites that can get you started in the right direction. See below.
After you narrow your search make sure that you research your choice by talking with others on your team. Chances are that someone on your team has been there before.
Be sure that you are aware of the travel requirements needed to enter Canada and the USA.
These can be found on the US Department of State website and the Canadian Border Services Agency website.
Canadian Tournament Application Form (Travel Permit) $10 fee required
Any team participating in Canadian Tournaments must complete the Canadian Tournament Application form together with a 10.00 application fee. To complete the form click here for the Canadian Travel Permit. This must be completed prior to your departure or your USA Hockey insurance will not follow you to Canada and you will be turned away by the Canadian Tournament Director as it will compromize the Canadian teams as well. When entering tournaments in Canada, we recommend that you ask the Tournament Director if the tournament is a sanctioned tournament. When you apply for a Canadian Tournament permit you will need the following:
