After dropping the first game of the End of School Classic, the Falcons found their game on Saturday and played their way into the Finals on Sunday. The Falcons came out and dominated their two Saturday opponents, chalking up 9-2 and 8-1 victories while outshooting the opposition a combined 95-24! The Falcons carried their strong play into the finals on Sunday, jumping out to a 2-0 first period lead on Belle Tire Taylor and carrying the play for large stretches of the period. As the game progressed, the Falcons kept the pressure on and stretched the lead to 4-0. All players were contributing to the play. The forwards were grinding in corners and generating 2^nd, 3^rd and 4^th chances on net and the defense was aggressive on the blue line, keeping Belle Tire pinned deep in their own zone for entire shifts. The team continued to play with a lot of energy while the goalies helped kill off 7 consecutive penalties, including nearly 2 minutes of 5-on-3 power play time late in the game. In the end, the Falcons tallied a 4-2 victory and brought the championship back to Lakeland. It was a thrilling way for the kids to end their Spring season!
